Global IFRS Sustainability Disclosure Standards Workshop Draws Over 1,000 Participants
On 10 February 2026, an interactive global workshop on the IFRS Sustainability Disclosure Standards convened more than 1,000 participants from around the world, underscoring the continued and growing demand for high-quality capacity building in sustainability and climate-related reporting.
The event was co-organized by the UN Sustainable Stock Exchanges initiative (UN SSE), the IFRS Foundation and the International Finance Corporation (IFC). The 3.5-hour, CPD-certified online session focused on the practical implementation of IFRS S1 (General Requirements for Disclosure of Sustainability-Related Financial Information) and IFRS S2 (Climate-related Disclosures).
Opening the workshop, IFC’s Corporate Governance Manager, Charles Canfield, emphasized the critical role of consistent, decision-useful sustainability disclosures in strengthening capital markets, improving transparency, and supporting resilient private sector growth. The remarks highlighted IFC’s commitment to advancing global alignment on sustainability reporting and supporting emerging markets in building implementation capacity.
The workshop brought together regulators, stock exchanges, corporates, accountants, and sustainability practitioners across multiple regions. Through expert presentations and interactive discussions, participants explored the structure, disclosure requirements, and practical application of the standards, with a focus on readiness and implementation challenges.
