IFC and UNSSE started providing free training to help capital market participants implement the new standards and published a new Model Guidance to support stock exchanges

To help capital market participants implement the new standards and build capacity for consistent, global uptake, the UN Sustainable Stock Exchanges Initiative (UN SSE) and IFC have partnered with the IFRS Foundation to provide free training with UN SSE Partner Exchanges. The first two training sessions for the 120+ UNSSE member stock exchange staff were held on January 9 and January 11, 2024. You can access the materials from the training here. This online training includes 3.5 hours of live facilitation and a homework exercise for extended learning. The training consists of step-by-step practical guidance to help participants build the foundations to identify climate and sustainability-related issues, integrate them into strategy decision-making and governance processes, and measure progress and resilience. You can access the current list of training sessions here. Please let us know if a stock exchange in your market is interested in hosting the ISSB training.

The UN SSE and IFC, with support from the International Sustainability Standards Board, also published a Model Guidance to support stock exchanges and their market participants in the implementation of the IFRS Sustainability Disclosure Standards. This guidance aims to help stock exchanges develop their own voluntary guidance to support their listed entities in implementing IFRS S1 and S2 standards. The IFRS Foundation permits stock exchanges to reproduce the material in this guidance, provided that the educational material is available free of charge. The document is available in Word format to facilitate the copying of the text. The UN SSE and IFC will continue to work with their partners to add new tools as necessary to provide ongoing support to stock exchanges and their companies on this topic.
