Introduction to the Annual Report Self-Assessment Tool

Welcome to the Annual Report Self-Assessment Tool, designed to help companies evaluate and enhance their annual reporting practices. This tool aims to provide a structured approach to assessing your annual report's completeness, transparency, and alignment with good practices in sustainability and climate reporting. The tool is based on IFC’s Model Annual Report Structure and benchmarks with IFRS S1 and S2, ESRS, and GRI standards.

  • Annual reports are critical in communicating your company's performance, governance, risk management, and strategic direction to investors and stakeholders. Ensuring these reports are comprehensive, transparent, and aligned with industry standards not only builds trust but also enhances the overall credibility of your company. This self-assessment tool helps identify strengths and areas for improvement, ensuring your annual and/or sustainability reports align with good international practice in sustainability and climate reporting.

  • The self-assessment covers key elements of annual reporting, including governance, strategy, risk management, performance metrics and targets, sustainability assurance, transparency, compliance, and stakeholder engagement.

Each section includes detailed questions and good practice guidelines to help you assess your report on a scale from 1 (Poor) to 5 (Excellent), identifying both strengths and areas for improvement. The tool also provides recommendations and links to additional resources to help you navigate the evolving sustainability reporting landscape.
